Director - Kathy Small BA FCA
I am a chartered accountant, qualified in 2002 with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales. I have over 13 years experience working closely with many different types of owner managed businesses and charities in the North West area. Prior to starting my training I gained a degree in accounting and finance from Liverpool John Moores University.
Prior to setting up Aster Accountants I have worked with three of the largest independent firms of accountants in the north west area. This has given me a range of exposure to all areas of accounting and finance, from preparing accounts and tax returns for sole traders such as plumbers and plasterers, through to preparing and auditing the accounts of a multi million pound chain of restaurants.
Whether you are looking to set up in business for the first time and are looking for assistance in where to start, or are the owner of an established limited company, I will be able to bring my experience and expertise to assist you in managing your own and your company’s finances whilst meeting statutory requirements.
Outside of work, I have three horses and enjoy competing in British Dressage competitions. We have had some good results including qualifying for and being placed at regional championship. I am also the proud owner of a Honda CB400 (NC31) motorbike, thanks to the interest and help of my husband, Dave. However, he now has to go a little bit slower on his bike to let me keep up!
We enjoy keeping up with the action in moto gp, and what an exciting year it has been so far with Marc Marquez breaking almost all the records for a rookie! We enjoyed a trip to Silverstone this year to watch the moto gp, cheering on the Brits, my husband is particularly keen to cheer for Bradley Smith with whom he had a track day last year. Meanwhile, I was waving a flag for Scott Redding who went on to win the Moto 2 race and become the first British rider to win his home race in the intermediate class since Tom Herron at the Isle of Man TT in 1976 – I cannot wait to see Scott on board a motogp bike next year.
